Chrissy Crowley, Rachel Davis, Jason Roach and Darren McMullen got together in 2010 for a tour promoting Celtic Colours. An engaging line-up of well-known solo acts—featuring expertly-played fiddle, piano, guitar, mandolin, whistle and banjo—they enjoyed playing together so much that they decided to continue to perform as Còig whenever their busy solo careers allowed. And in one explosive coming together, what was once solo acts on stage has amalgamated into one electrifying super group. With their driving tunes, haunting songs and infectious energy, Còig has proven to be a serious force to be reckoned with on the traditional music scene. Their debut album was released in 2014 to rave reviews, and has earned the band a Canadian Folk Music Award, a Music Nova Scotia Award, and the 2015 East Coast Music Award for Roots/Traditional Group Recording of the Year. The band released their latest album, Rove, in June. Supported by 1015 The Hawk, The Reporter, and Maritime Inns.
