Lighthouses of Atlantic Canada and Beyond

For centuries lighthouses have helped protect seafaring visitors and communities' hard working people who looked to the sea for their living. Standing proudly against the elements, they embody the history and spirit of their communities. They are truly icons and every one has its own special story.

This show features work by members of the Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia. Thirty-nine artists from Canada and the US have hooked an entry for the Lighthouses of Atlantic Canada exhibit. Each artist has shared why this particular lighthouse was chosen to hook.  The works represent lighthouses from Atlantic Canada and Beyond.

Come see the beautiful works of art created one loop at a time into fabulous lighthouses which many of you will recognize and will have your own story to share!  The J. Franklin Wright Gallery is the last venue for this show that has travelled around Nova Scotia and New Brunswick over the past 12 months.  It is not to be missed while in Port Hawkesbury area.

The exhibit will run from Aug. 27 – Oct.15, 2015  The opening reception at the Gallery will be held Aug 27 at 2:00 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend.  Light refreshments will be served.

Bear Head Conference Room  9:00pm Presented by: 101.5 the Hawk, The Reporter & Maritime Inns

Long-time friends and musicians Sam Moon & Matt Minglewood have quite the musical history.  They started performing together in '69 in a band called Sam Moon, Matt Minglewood Band but in '73 they went their separate ways musically.  Matt had one foot steeped in the musical roots of blues and the other knee-deep in country & rock while Sam had one foot steeped in R&B and the other in folk.  Finally 40 plus years later they have teamed up to present a musical reunion tour.  East Coast Gold!  Tickets are $32.00 and can be purchased at the PHCC Box Office (902)625-2591 or online at:  Online Sales
