The fifth stop of the season runs March 16-19, 2017, at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre.

SLOAN- Twice Removed Tour on sale Friday, October 19

This February, Sloan will embark on a tour in celebration of one of their earlier catalogue albums, Twice Removed. Long-heralded by critics as one of the best Canadian Albums of all time, Twice Removed has been a fan favourite since it's release in 1994. Join us, on February 19 at the SAERC auditorium where Sloan will perform Twice Removed in it's entirety, followed up with a set of hits and favourites from throughout their career.

The opening of the Celtic Colours exhibit at the J. Franklin Wright Gallery will be Friday, September 30 at 4:00 p.m.  It is a wonderful retrospective of photographs from the last 20 years of the Celtic Colours concerts and their performers and participants.  You are invited to drop by to the opening, and have an opportunity to be the first to see this exhibit. The exhibiton will run until October 30.

The J. Franklin Wright Art Gallery is pleased to introduce Since Their Service, an exhibition by photographer Charlie Morrison. The public is invited to visit the exhibition beginning on October 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the J. Franklin Wright Art Gallery,

This exhibition will provide an opportunity to reflect on the contribution our Veterans have made.

Charlie Morrison practices paramedicine and has been taking photographs for over 15 years. Charlie has learned his techniques from trial and error, reading, exposing himself to new challenges, and associating himself with professional photographers in Cape Breton. Charlie shoots a variety of subjects, including scenery, streets, travel, wildlife and socially conscious topics in black and white as well as in colour.

Since their Service will be displayed at the J. Franklin Wright Gallery until November 14, 2016.

 The Port Hawkesbury Literacy Council presents Feis 2016 Midwives and Moonshine, Thursday, November 3 at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre.

Enjoy a wonderful evening complete  with a delicious dinner, 50/50 draw. an silent auction. The event will feature readings by two of Nova Scotia's own authors.

Ami McKay is the author of the Virgin Cure, ad most recently the Witches of New York. He book, the Birth House was a #1 best seller in Canada, winner of three CBA Libris Awards, nominated for an IMPAC Dublin Literacy Award, and is a book club favourite around the world.

David Muise identifies himself as a "recovering politician" a lawyer, and author of Awake at a Wake, and Awake Yet? He is also a regular contributor to The Cape Breton Post with his popular column I'm Just Sayin".

Doors open at 6:000 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m.and is followed by a silent auction, 50/50 winner announcement, and authors' readings, book sale and signing.
