 Clara Hughes is a six-time Olympic medallist and the national spokesperson for the Bell Let's Talk mental health initiative. On March 14, 2014, Clara will begin Clara’s Big Ride for Bell Let’s Talk to help end the stigma around mental illness.

The Shannon Studio will be the setting at 6:30 p.m., April 17 to meet and to greet Clara, and to invite the community into the mental health conversation. Clara will share her own story of mental health challenges. 
Tickets are available at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre ($10.00) or online at Online Ticket Sales.  All proceeds will be donated to SAERC Youth Centre Advisory Committee.  Light refreshments will be served.For further information, please contact the Recreation Department at 625-2591.

With the support of Argyle Fine Art, Halifax, a display of Mark Brennan’s  work will be featured at the J. Franklin Wright Gallery ,Port Hawkesbury,  March 28 – May 1.

Mark Brennan is primarily known for his visual art, depicting the rugged landscapes of Canada, but expanding into the world of sound is something that has been a natural progression to deepen his understanding of the human relationship to Nature.

Venturing into remaining wilderness to document and experience the sound-scape is something Mark has taken great pleasure in, not only has it raised his own awareness but it has also deepened his personal journey.

Gallery Hours will be Monday to Friday 4:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10:00-4:00 p.m..

The Town of Port Hawkesbury and the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce are proud to announce the plans for the April 17 visit of Canada’s six-time Olympic cycling and speed-skating medalist, Clara Hughes. This visit is part of the “Clara’s Big Ride Tour” which will span 12,000 kilometres over the course of 110 days, beginning in Toronto March 14, 2014, visiting 95 communities and concluding in Ottawa on Canada Day, July 1.
